It's a new year, time to renew your CA campfire permit

Heading out with friends for some wheeling and camping this weekend and as I was loading out the Jeep I realized my campfire permit was expired.

I've never been checked for a permit before, but hey, it takes only a few minutes and if approached by a ranger it's never a bad idea to have all your ducks in a row.

P.S. Permit is also required for portable gas stoves.

Obtain necessary permits for controlled burns and fire activities. Learn about CAL FIRE requirements and apply online for safety compliance.

Right now I don't think too much is going to burn though haha.

Always good to have though just incase!

Thanks VF! Last time I got a permit, had to stop at a CalFire station = nice to see you can do it online

Yep, always good to have since it is required for portable stoves also. It only takes about 10 minutes online.

Thanks for the reminder. Just watched the video, took the test and printed the permit.

My buddy's friend is trail boss, never met him, not 100% sure where exactly, I heard we're going to go check out the petroglyphs near Ridgecrest, maybe go explore some mines, I don't care where, just getting out of town for a coupe days.
Looks like we'll have some cloud cover which should keep it from dropping into the 20's at night hopefully as I'm tenting it.

Nice! That sounds pretty cool are the Petroglyphs hard to get to? Enjoy your time off and sounds like you will have to use that nifty new fire permit, 20* dang!

                  Awesome, Thanks for the reminder!

I wish they would do a full year for expiration. Sometimes we camp near the end of the year in to the new year, and our permit expires. No way to get another permit, unless you got some internet signal out there.
