NNPC Handgun and 3-gun match Saturday

This coming Saturday, 9-14-19, the No Name Pistol Club will hold its fun action pistol and 3-gun match at Burro Canyon, It starts at 9 AM at Range 1C, to the right as you enter the range, across the road from the office. Check in with us, not the office. Cost is $35 for range rental, targets, etc. Score is kept, usually time plus penalties, for fun and you can keep your score sheets if you like. They help to chart progress, particularly if you shoot with us more than once.

Usually 2 to 3 handgun stages followed by a 3-gun stage. I bring 150 rounds of handgun ammo to be safe (you may not need that much) and a box each for rifle and shotgun. If you do not have a suitable rifle or shotgun, bring .223 and/or 12 GA birdshot and you can use one of ours. Buckshot tears up our knockdown targets so we require birdshot.

Beginners are always welcome, and this match helps them decide if they want to continue with competition, gain experience with us and then proceed or just keep coming out for fun - drawing from holster, rapid fire, some movement, hostage targets, shooting from cover, etc.
First time shooters often start from the low ready position, rather than from the holster, so you can participate even in you do not have a holster.

Kids are also welcome so long as they are old enough to handle firearms responsibly.

Next month, October 12, we do our annual OK Corral match. Cowboy guns are encouraged, though you can shoot what you want. The 3-gun usually involves a lever action rifle, cowboy revolver and period shotguns like 1897 Win or double barreled. Again, though, you can shoot what you have or bring .45 Colt, .38 SPL and 12 GA birdshot ammo and use one of our guns.

First stage you are an Earp and second stage you are one of the cowboys. This is for NEXT month - this month is a normal match.

The match is this Saturday...next month (Oct 12) is our annual OK Corral match, where cowboy guns are encouraged but not required. You can always shoot what you have.

For next month’s cowboy shoot. Is it going to be paper targets? (I assume it will be too hot and dry for the steel ones, right ?).

The only cowboy pistol I have is a .22 which I assume would be ok for paper.

Yes, it will be standard silhouette targets. We do have a cardboard horse one of the McLawry's is hiding behind. :-)

The shotgun targets will be 4 x 4 knockdowns. There may be some bowling pins in the 3 gun. If it rains, we might be able to use some steel targets.

.22 is fine or you can shoot your regular pistols. Bring some .45 Colt ammo and you can shoot my Ruger and/or Rossi M92.
