Pipi Valley camping trip last weekend

Left work Thursday at 2:00pm and made my way over 580 and up 88 in to the hills.

Man that is quite the crew, Sportsmobiles and gear! Looks like good chow too! How were the dirt bike trails? Did you need 4x4 to reach the campsite? Was the campsite just a spot you knew of or was it an actual campground? I saw your one photo in the fires thread it was smokey, but those pictures you have don't look that bad, smoke just come in for a bit?

^ No 4x4 needed to get here. I went here in my old BMW once. It's right off of N. South Road just North of Pipi campground on the Middle Fork Cosumnes river. It's not an official campground - no fire ring, etc. Just out in the forest.

Haha. It's an annual thing we do with a bunch of friends from So Cal that used to live up this way. One of them is obviously a DJ. It's fun to do once a year

Been to PiPi and absolutely beautiful. However, I would be PISSED if you camped next to me. Talk about ruining the experience for everybody around you. No, partying late into the night and watching movies all night is not cool for those around you!!!

^ Um, well, you can kind of see Rudy running around in the background in the picture of the kid on the bike. That's all I got this time.

And as for the question about the dirt trails and smoke... it was always smoky in the mornings but the winds throughout the day had smoke coming and going. It was pretty bad at times and other times we barely noticed it. Trails were very dusty and very rocky!

I think this was our fifth or sixth year doing this particular annual event there. It's a great spot. If anyone else did roll in, including yourself, we would welcome you to join us but tell you that we might play music past midnight. We don't play it loud (there's kids sleeping in all those vans except mine) but the ladies do enjoy a dance party.

We used to do stuff like this out in the Tahoe NF near Sugarpine reservoir. One time we actually had a live band setup LOL. I miss that camp spot because there was a great shooting range 3 minutes away. The Forest Service destroyed both sites we used to use because they were always getting trashed. We would spend hours cleaning the camp spots before setting up camp, and taking all the trash to the local staging area.
