Learning civilian map, compass, and navigation

Former military and very good at land navigation using the military grid reference system. I want to convert those skills to lat/long and teach map and compass based land nav to my Girl Scout troop.

Can anyone recommend a course or book? Literally hundreds out there and time have the time, patience or money to filter through them so hoping some of you can steer me in the right direction.

    Thanks

By courses I mean REI, video, or online.

It all depends on the maps you are going to be using. A good topo map has both PLSS and lat/lon on it.

I assume you are talking localized navigation where you can ignore projection issues.

The Sierra Club teaches navigation for free, at least in some areas.
