Anybody been up Santa Barbara Canyon Road off Hwy. 33 near Ventucopa recently?
Did you have to go up all the way to New Cuyama and drive back to the canyon road from that side of the river or is the old bridge repaired between 33 near Ventucopa and the canyon (It was out the last time I was up there several years ago)?
I was told by the USFS ranger at Fraser Park that the road is closed to vehicles until mid-April but that it was OK to park outside the NF boundary on the canyon road and hike in. Anybody done that? Any problem parking on the roadside (I know it's all private land along there).
Any smart tips on access up there? Problems with open carry? I want to carry a holstered .22 handgun--don't PLAN on shooting anything....
Thanks for any info on that area--I used to hunt up there and want to get back to it (Red FLag warnings allowing....). This is just a scouting trip to get the lay of the land.
