    ATVs

hello folks, i have been shopping for a new ATV/Side by Side. something on the larger side to fit folks in for a tour of our property.

i am looking at the polaris ranger 1000, rzr and yamaha viking.

basically i need 4x4, power steering, ability to haul at least a couple cords of firewood and hopefully a bed for guns, ammo and such.

what functional toys do you guys recommend? ive heard good and bad stuff from posts online but want some real stories from people who own these machines, not stories of friends who own them.

    budget is under $30k.

i currently own a 6x4 gator but want something a bit more fun.

Your hauling requirement is the one that takes you from Weekend Warrior toy to farm quality vehicles.

        John Deere Gator?

          With a 30k budget I'd be looking at a Jeep ~

Doubt you will find that in an ATV. Not in one trip anyways. A cord of wood will run anywhere between 2k-3k pounds so hauling "at least" two cords (upwards of 6k pounds) is not likely. The Polaris ranger is rated at 2,500 pounds, the RZR does not come with a spec because they don't list a tow hitch. You can add one yourself but its not frame-supported so it won't pull very much. The Viking is also 1,500 towing capacity. I am presently looking at a CanAm but for firewood, I will use one of the trucks
excellent point, i should have been more specific. i will most likely only pull a hair over a cord of oak because of the weight. i was looking at the ranger for that purpose.

the jeeps i have been looking at would need a bit more than $10k over sticker to get them where i would want them and even then, they would be on the large side. i was looking at a jeep first though.
