Im pretty sure I have some of those in my front yard.Artist formally known as CEO of Tracy Rifle and Pistol -
You must know your stuff! I'm still too scared to eat anything but chanterelles. White mushrooms scare me.Comment

Yes especially small white ones.
Scared of picking the death caps myself.
My grandparent came from the old country and
though that leaving a silver dime soaking overnight
in shroom/water would make them safe.
Wrong. They had a friend die and they stopped picking.

Good for you! I'm not up on my mycology so I don't eat anything but turkey tails myself. But I'm glad that you found a bunch of something that you know. I try to learn what I can because I've seen deer practically stake-out mushroom growing areas -- they love them and will sample almost any mushroom. Some are just good eatin' too. Awesome!Comment

deathcaps are almost perfectly round and don't have the same root structures as matsutakes. these mushrooms are extremely firm to the touch.
this is X1 hunting zone and i saw a ton of deer droppings. in the spring morels will pop up and nobody would mistake a morel for anything else.Good for you! When I was researching the "Animal Testing" issue, I read that deer & rabbits eat all types of wild mushrooms that are deadly to humans - has no affect on them.Good for you!
