Cold Springs Campground Sequoia National Park

A few friends and I are planning a camping trip to Cold Springs Campground in Sequoia National Forest this weekend. Anybody here camped there? I was hoping to get some advice on how to find a non-crowded area in the campground to camp, where springs that we can swim in are, the best trails to hike, where we might be able to fish. Is there anywhere we can shoot there?
I know we need our campground permit, are there any other permits we may need such as a separate campfire permit? Any helpful info would be greatly appreciated.

Are you talking about Cold Springs off HWY 108 above Sonora near Pinecrest Lake?

If so, that place is very crowded this time of year until school starts. You won't find a fixed campsite between Thursday afternoon and Tuesday morning. They have been doing a lot of logging up there the last few years, so most of the other non-fixed campsites have no shade and are dusty.
