    Warning - Grilling/Barbequing

I don't use an outdoor grill...just wanted post this. A little scary; I've never heard of such a danger. Evidently, it's not so common.

It seems to that when you are done with the grill brush the oil rag you wipe it down with would remove any thing the brush left behind.

OMG, A guy once inhaled a popcorn seed into his lung. Years later doctors seeing a dark spot in his lung and fearing cancer did emergency surgery to remove it.

        Ban popcorn.

I don't use these for this veru reason - I have read about this happening before.

I use a putty knife and scrape the grates clean.

I wash with a wire brush right before I grill and spray it with a good helping of water, then toss the grill on the fire. Seems like this is easily prevented with an added process.

I use that brush- then I take a look, 'oh, hey. there's a bristle.' Blow on it and it's gone. I'm probably related to Einstein.

Why ruin a seasoned grill by cleaning it?

                          lol

This is a known issue for pizza ovens, but i've never heard of it being a problem with grill grates.

This was on 60 Minutes or something. I changed my procedure for my Weber Q.

Probably a rare injury but having it happen after being informed would be really silly. Not that hard to stop doing.

its just an experience thing. i dont remember the last time i bought a wire brush. hope more people stop using them after this story.

                              i use this:

The Great Scrape is a natural BBQ cleaning tool & wood grill scraper, alternative to the metal wire brush. It custom grooves to uniquely fit the barbecue grill.

and then finish it off the cleaning by rubbing lemons across the grate.
