Looking for suggestions on places to vacation/shoot

I am living out in Los Angeles and do most of my shooting at a local public range. I used to live out in Colorado and really enjoyed hiking around national forest and shooting. I could really use a get away and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on places i could rent a house out in the woods and be able to shoot freely. Ideally rent a spot thats nice and secluded, bring my dog and disconnect for a bit. Thinking maybe the pacific northwest, colorado, wyoming, montana or even somewhere in california would be great. Looking for suggestions! Thanks!

Last July I rented a 4x4 cab over camper in Anchorage and spend a week driving the Denali Highway and hanging with pilot buddies in Talkeetna. Took my M1A & Springfield 1911 in a 1750 pelican case with enough ammo to have a ball. Lots of public places to shoot and anywhere on the Denali Highway you can just stop (its a 150 mile dirt road) pull your rifle out, and shoot to your hearts content.
Other than food, fuel, the rv rental and airfare it was a relatively inexpensive vacation.
