In my boyhood, I romanticized pursuing game but...

...when I was 13, my mother and father called me a creep for expressing interest in hunting and taxidermy.

My parents were not too keen on hunting and guns for sport I lament.

My grandfather was a sport fisherman and gave me some outdoor magazines to read. My parents disapproved of my reading the hunting articles, however. I read many articles by Jack O'Connor and fancied the African safari in the classical sense. I also had expressed interest in guns at that time. I thought the guns with their fancy checkered wood looked so neat.

Unfortunately, much CA gun and hunting legislation that we hate so much stems from the kind of thinking of my parents.

to be honest, as a bad hunter, I don't "pursue much game". I have however seen the true country that California is, areas I would never have chosen to go had I not "been hunting" at the time.

It is a beautiful state out there, and it's easy to miss the "fly-over" areas if your idea of being outdoorsy is just Yosemite or resorts in the sierra nevada.

        I apologize in advance, OP.

        Your parents are hopeless libtards.

        Hear me out, please.

There is absolutely nothing wrong in showing interest in hunting and/or taxidermy. That is their problem, not yours. Move on.

Hunters and taxidermists contribute much more with regard to conservation to habitat and wildlife, compared to the anti blowhards.

I don't go hunting, but it is a far more honest means of getting meat than to use a hired killer.

Mankind hunted it's own food since we first existed, and used the animals remains for decorative, religious, and utlitarian purposes almost as long. Not having the self determination to hunt and kill what one needs to feed oneself and ones' family is creepy.

My mother was something of an 'animal rights activist' back in her day. Greenpeace bumper stickers and all. I still loved her the same. She has passed on. God rest her soul anyway.

She wasn't so much a lib-tard but just a typical California SF Bay Area woman swamped by emotions and a George McGovern Democrat.

I have just moved to Boise, ID 3 months ago. More gun and hunter friendly here I should say.

My parents did NOT mind eating animals from farms and ranches.

You missed out on deer season. For myself, I like to deer hunt, but only have kilt one deer, a 4 pointer, so that's my personal standard. It's mostly been "walking with guns". When growing up in Freekmont, we took a lot of cottontails, jacks, grey squirrels, dove, & pheasants, IN TOWN.

You're in Sac, bunch of places within striking distance. Just getting out is great. Any if you're lucky you bag some. Never did water fowl, that's a whole other batch of gear. PAX

This! Libtards go out of there way to be "tolerant" of other people's interests.
