When we visited Glacier in 2011 we fished from the shore at Lake McDonald. We didn't need a license or anything to fish in the park but you could only fish a couple lakes.
My oldest daughter caught 2 small Lake trout, I'd say they were about 15-16" long, very good eating.
Lots of lake trout in Montana, it seems as though every lake had different regulations. IIRC, most lakes had either a no limit on lake trout or a 30 fish limit.
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

Yellowstone Angler in Livingston might be an outfit to try. Most outfitters will get you up on casting if you've never flyfished before, but I'd recommend taking the initiative and getting a reasonably priced outfit and start practicing before hand. A guided trip will probably go from $350 on up for the day. I'd recommend a guide package that concentrates on wading rather than a float trip...you'll learn the fundamentals.

Yellowstone Angler is located in Livingston, MT. Guided trips on the Yellowstone River and Yellowstone National Park.

Get your ducks in a row before you go. Check fishing licenses in each state. Get a Park Service pass.

jackson Hole, Grand tetons, mammoth, Glacier....

Jellystone is minimum 3 days just for the auto friendly portion.

The later you make it, the better the chance of being there when the elk are bugling and gathering their harems. Kewl stuff.

I spent five days in/around Yellowstone and wished I had more time... I also got to spend about a day-day and a half in Grand Teton National Park... Beautiful places and as others have said fantastic fishing all around.

We went summer 2014 drove from east bay. Stopped in Elko the first night and then to Jackson the next 3 nights. Then west Yellowstone for 4 nights. wish it had been a few more. I liked Tetons better. We went 4th of July week and it was not crowded at all. Also take the side trip to Cody. Best museum ever been to besides the smithsonian. I wish we had the time to have done Custer battlefield.

We did about 3000 miles in 12 days start to finish.

Cody and the Custer Battlefield are 2 things on my need to do list.
