If you had a gun would you have shot this bear?

If I had a gun there, the concern level would be much lower, so NO.

That bear was a North American Black Bear; they are omnivorous as follows: about 90% herbivore and approx. 10% carnivorous. And the carnivorous part ... they are scavengers of the forest, they eat carcass'. And yes, they will kill 'animal' for food, but only when extremely hungry and near hibernation time. Yes, they catch and eat fish ... I'm talking 'animal' killing.

This bear was more curious than aggressive. Good thing these guys didn't RUN as the bear was investigating. Running heightens their natural instinct ... and could be very bad for the runner.

They should've done what the guy in the next video did ... but one thing first, and that is ALWAYS take an extra pair of underwear when in bear country. NO-ONE likes walking back to the truck with poo-poo in the pants...!!!

Nope, I wouldn't have shot it. Like everyone else is saying, black bears generally act like dogs. He was curious, probably young, and probably just looking to play.

If I had been carrying bear spray I might have sprayed it once it got within a few feet of me/us.

Showed my Wife this, problem is she would want to take the cute little bear home. Unlikely she would have run from it.

There is such a thing as too much animal love. Yes black bears seldom attack humans, yes black bears eat berries.

A wounded animal, sick animal, hungry animal, etc. will act differently and most definitely pose a physical danger in the wild.

So yes, if nothing I did got the bear to get away and it charged me in an aggressive manner, I would shoot it and not feel bad.

That being said, I've had close run-ins with bears while hunting and never fired a shot.

Since they kept moving the bears instinct was to follow and investigate, it was not a big bear so if they had stopped and together raised there arms and yelled at it would have most likely left quickly. But they kept moving and eventually ran all bad things to do when being investigated by a bear.
