any neat places to hike near San Bernardino besides lytle creek?

The roads also have to be paved since I ride a motorcycle and can not ride on dirt.

      Check out AllTrails.com

With that said, a nice short one is Heart Rock if you're looking to take the kids or a date.

Vivian Creek Trail to the Summit of San Gorgonio http://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/sbnf/...a/?recid=26575 is a real challenge. I've heard that Mt Whitney is good training for Vivian Creek (LOL).

If you're planning to hang out near Big Bear, the Cougar Creek trail is nice. It starts on the north side of the lake near Fawnskin and gives you some nice views.

Yikes! Nastiest trail in the San Gorgonio Wilderness. Also on a south-facing slope, so it can get pretty hot.

Lots of other great hikes in the San Gorgonio Wilderness:

And here is a handy mileage guide.

Momyer Trail, just before you get to the Vivian Creek Trailhead parking lot, near forest falls.

Tough trails keep the riffraff and urban trash back at the trail head parking lot and picnic grounds. That makes for good hiking.

Vivian Creek trail is very doable if you are in reasonable shape. Though don't plan on leaving your bike at the trail head overnight as it will likely be gone the next day. You also need a permit on that trail...pick one up at the ranger station that you pass on the ride up...its located at HWY 38 and Bryant Street.

Doesn't work on Vivian Creek. It's the most popular trail in the San Gorgonio Wilderness, because it's the shortest route to San Gorgonio summit.

Momyer Trail takes you to some nice places, but I haven't spent much time on the south side of the mountain in years. Right about now is probably the best time to hike the Momyer Trail, since we are having such a mild winter.

All the trails in the San Gorgonio Wilderness need permits, for day hikes or overnights.
