Recommend me a new Multi-Tool

I haven't been on a plane for over 6 years, and I accidentally left my Gerber Multi tool (that I have had owned for over 13 years) in my backpack like an idiot. Either way, I am now in the market for a new multi-tool that is quality, lightweight (to take backpacking), and has at least :serrated knife, scissors, screwdriver/flathead and obviously the pliers. Ive done some research, but would like to hear what else is working for you guys. I am not really sure of the quality of Gerbers products now, with everything being all Bear Ghrylls-Ed out.

I got caught the same way, some so called agent has my Leatherman in Florida, forgot to put it in the check in bags. My choice has been the Leatherman Wave for years. They have changed over time, don't like my new one as much as the old one.

I like the Leatherman Wave's as well. Though I did prefer their previous version over the redesigned model.

Go to the Leatherman site (http://www.leatherman.com/) and start clicking around. My SOG Powerlock is a heavy one at 9.6oz. You're looking in the half-pound range for the full-size multi-tools like the Charge.

Looks like you are looking at the Squirt, Skeletool and Juice models based on weight.

I leave my SOG at home when backpacking. Would be nice to have something lighter...

Plus 1 on the wave, have had one for 3 years, use it daily, good tool. i don't really use the knives on it though because i also carry A pockeT knife.

I like the Victorinox Spirit. Good quality and holds an edge.
If I was traveling with a multi-tool I'd get a disposable/cheap one in case TSA likes it.

I'll add my recommendation for the Leatherman wave. I have 3 and rotate which ones I use. I put a plastic magnifying card in the case behind the tool, and there are small pockets on either side that I keep a small flashlight in one side & a mini lighter in the other. Mine are all about 3-5years old, and some have mentioned a new model, so I don't know about that.

Anybody have pictures of the Leatherman tool bracelet they were showing at the SHOT show? It didn't have a blade, but it had many tools on it, and they said they've been taking them through airport security and on planes for a year, all over the world. Its a pretty cool concept, and was quite comfortable to wear. Kind of like a heavy watch.

The Wave is 8.5oz. I don't consider that "light" by multi-tool standards. 5-6 ounces will get you a medium tool and you can get down to 2oz if you get a tiny or stripped down tool.

multi-tool and stealthy multi-tool

Well, the President of Leatherman supposedly carries a Skeletool, if that's any kind of endorsement to you:

If you're into something more stealth, the story goes that Leatherman's President was trying to get into Disneyland, but they wouldn't let him enter with his Skeletool. Later, he told his guys to build a stealthy multi-tool for situations like that, so now there is the "Tread" multi tool, which looks like a modern art bracelet:
