Finally pulled the trigger and bought a bow

I have been thinking about purchasing a bow for the last few years, but have never pulled the trigger. A killer deal came my way through a buddy at work which I could not refuse so I finally broke down and purchased one. Being there is an outdoor archery club 5 minutes from my house and a new indoor club, Absolute Archery in Shingle Springs opening shortly, I figured it was about time to learn how to shoot an arrow in preparation for the zombie apocalypse lol. My buddy whom hooked me up with the bow also took me up to the owners house of Absolute Archery, Darren Mack, and introduced me too him and his son. Both are great guys. Judging by all the products he will be carrying, this place is going to be legit for both products and indoor archery as winter is approaching...

This is the bow I ended up picking up: 2009 Bowtech Sentinel, 70lb limbs. Spott hogg hunter hoggit 5 pin .019 sight, Rip cord code red rest, 1 dozen PSE x weave arrows and hard case..

My shooting buddy runs a similar era bowtech; you will not be disappointed. After the initial costs, archery is way cheaper than shooting guns and fun for something new and different. Sounds like you are up by El Dorado Bowman?

I love shooting archery, I just don't do it enough.

Yeah, up front I think archery can cost as much as firearms. But in the long run you save since your not dumping 40-100 dollars on ammo per range. if you shoot well and have quality arrows, it should last you a long time. I have some aluminum arrows I've had since 1994 and still shoots great. haha..

LOL very true. Purchased a scott little bitty goose and it does have a trigger

BTW, don't ever "dry fire" it. I could tell you stories of shattered bows that would make your hair curl.

Thanks for the heads up. I wasn't aware of the dry fire until a friend told me about it. After seeing vids on youtube, looks expensive.

very cool. dont know a lot about em but been keeping an eye out myself for an entry compound bow and now after reading that absolute archery will be less than 2 miles away from my parents place looks like ill be on the same boat soon.

I re entered the archery sport after a 30 year absence. Purchased a new compound bow and all the cool accessories. I benefited from buying new from an established pro shop because so much had changed and there are so many products to choose from. I might have bought used if I had more experience or a trusted experienced archer friend. I had neither.

I don't always pay retail but when I do it's because I am paying for expert advice. In this case it was money well spent from equipment selection to actually shooting a good number of arrows (with coaching) to compare bows.
