    Handmade knives

    Hey all,
Lately I’ve been moving away from mass-produced blades and getting more into knives crafted by hand — and honestly, there’s no comparison. The feel, the weight, even the imperfections give each one its own personality.
Picked up a small fixed blade recently with a forged carbon steel blade and a walnut handle — not flashy, but you can tell someone actually cared while making it.
Curious what draws you to handmade knives. Is it the performance, the story behind them, or just the satisfaction of owning something unique?
Let’s see what handmade pieces you all are carrying or collecting.

While I'm not really a knowledgeable knife guy, I liked the Damascus knives the fellow had for sale at his table at a gun show (bringing a knife to a gun fight?). No two were the same, he made them and his wife made the sheaths. Bought four of them, one for me and for my sons and brother as Christmas gifts. The gentleman was a likeable fellow with the cowboy hat and a handlebar moustache that would make Kurt Russell envious. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour...TFLElyacoxo6hy

I just like making them. Nothing I make is any good yet, but someday. Find you a blacksmith group and give it a try. It got more popular with the Forged in Fire stuff, we have 3 winners of that show in our group, but it seems to be waning again. The guy who came up with the cable damascus knives is in our group. He came up with it due to a bet where he said he could make a knife out of anything and someone bet him he couldnt make a knife from that cable that holds up power polls. He did and they came out awesome. Now he sells them for $600+. His day job is some top secret thing for the Air Force. The knowledge and skill these folks have is truly amazing. If you link up with a group they are very generous with their time and teaching.
