Anyone Ever Try The Agawa Boreal 24 Bow Saw?

I was thinking about picking up an Agawa Boreal 24 bow saw. It would mainly be for car camping, for now. If I can get my stride back, maybe, someday, it would be used for pack trips.

The $90 version is just for the saw. There's a 'kit' version with an extra blade and either a Cordura case for $130 or a leather case for $154. Given that it's Christmas time, there's probably a deal to be found... somewhere.

Yes. It's expensive compared to those you find at Home Depot. But, those at Home Depot don't fold down for packing, making them awkward for the backcountry and I don't fancy making one on the spot, especially for car camping.

There's also the Bob Dustrude, but I think the Agawa is a better design for my purposes.

    No one?

Okay. I picked up the saw for $78 and I have a Bahco blade I can use as a backup. If it works out, I may pick up a Cordura sheath so I can attach to the side of a pack. Then again, at $45 for the sheath, I may wait for a sale or just put it inside the pack.

    Just thought I'd ask.

I like that Agawa kit version. I look at good folding saws once in a while as well.

I do a lot of remote camping in my Jeep and have a Fiskars 21" bow saw shoved between the hard top and roll bar. I use it a lot and its sort of out of sight out of mind.

Last Sierra trip this year had snow and rain in the forecast so I cheated a little. Always take the bow saw and a splitting maul. But the Sawzall with a 3 tpi blade was a game changer

Ultimately, I figure it will end up behind the seat of the pickup with the two axes, small shovel, etc. I don't think I have much "backpacking" left in me; but, we'll see. Meanwhile, especially early in the year, I'm still removing fallen trees from backcountry roads. Well, at least I used to. As I indicated, I'll see how it works for awhile and if I decide it's a 'keeper,' I'll spring for the Cordura sheath or a similar one.
