Its from a real knife company so I figured the steel must be at least legit. Seems pretty sharp. Semi-thick blade with taper (not stamped flat sheet super cheap-0) but not too thick so semi-lightweight and might be backpack friendly as dual use kitchen knife and mini-machete, and for $9 it could be abused without worry. Most "outdoors" knives seem very awkward for food prep. Thinking about getting a sheath for it. Main feature is the nice big ergonomically shaped handle for guys with larger hands. Seems well built and finished to high shine and no flash on the plastic, etc.
Says not dishwasher safe, but I can't imagine it hurting anything since its just steel and plastic, and who puts big knives in dishwasher anyways?
For a full size chef knife from a real knife company it (so far) seems like a fantastic deal for $9. 194grams. I think the plastic handle helps keep weight down VS similar knives.
Ontario knives seem like good professional quality but still cheap basic knives, but I have to take a file to the butt of the handles to round them so they don't dig into my palms, and they don't seem to have a chef's knife which seems like the #1 knife to have unless maybe you are a legit butcher.
