What is the most underrated knife?

    Watched a video. Interesting.

Got me thinking. What is the most underrated knife that you can share with us?

My first, is the K-Bar. Great all around knife. I don't know why this isn't the go-to fixed blade knife for everyone.

    My #2:

The Grohmann #4, survival knife. The offset handle and big blade and great steel that holds an edge is a great all around knife.

    What say you?

Ontario 498 is better because it is cheaper than a Ka-Bar and comes with the added bonus of a sharpened swedge!

Sold my Ka-Bar and kept the 498.

Becker BK2 is an underrated survival/Bushcraft knife.

Morakniv 511 is underrated and is better than the overhyped Companion.

    Victorinox Classic SD very underrated.

Gerber LMT came on strong but then peetered out on popularity. It is still a pretty good heavy use knife.
Life was simpler, and more honest, when revolvers and lever actions were the rule.

The video is all about ChiCom crap...it is shameful that Neeves even owns those knives much less made a video about his picks.

Made in the USA knives are the way to go.

Anza Knives, a boutique knife maker, and makes them one at a time at reasonable rates. All fixed blades.

Buck Knives USA made knives, folders like the 110, 112, and Marksman and fixed blades like the 119, 120, 124, Compadre and more. Knives you can be proud to own.

Southern Grind folders. We'll need to see how they do under the new ownership of Diamondback Knife Works.

          Ka Bar USA made knives.

Some Ontario stacked leather grip knives that are made in the USA.

Anything from Ontario. Just because it's made in Taiwan doesn't mean it's bad. I prefer american-made stuff but Ontario makes damn good stuff.

CRKT Squid. D2 steel and just the right size. It also fits in the hand really well. Not expensive either.

The Pioneer woman paring knives perform quite well and are like 8 bucks at Walmart.

If we're talking price vs performance for a basic EDC knife the Ontario RAT's are tough to beat. For a very affordable (cheap) made in USA EDC the Buck 112 Slim Select with the basic 420HC steel is my current favorite.

I still prefer a more basic of "softer" steel with my EDC knives. The really hard steels do retain their edges longer, but unless you really know what you're doing good luck getting that thing back to being razor sharp. But with the more "average" steels like Buck's 420HC I can quickly and easily get those razor sharp with very little effort.

Over 40 years ago I was at the Pomona gun show looking for a decent quality fixed blade knife to keep and use forever.
Spending the day looking at all the options and prices, I came back to the Ka Bar for another look.
The vendor was watching me, he was a WWII vet.
As I hefted the Ka Bar again, he said to me "Son, that's the only knife you will ever need".
The price was right and I still have it today.

As far as an underrated knife goes, I have a Glock 81 field knife that I have used to cut trail, dig in the ground, dislodge rocks and more.
It's taken a lickin' and kept on tickin'.
Currently about $35 on Amazon, I got mine a few years back for $25.
