It's O-1, both of my Randall's are tool steel, the other one I have is a Model 8, Micarta handle. In a lot of ways, that knife is more practical than this one, but I have wanted one of these Model 18's for a LONG time.

My next one is probably a Model 20, and I would also like to get a Model 10 eventually. I may actually order a Model 10 direct and wait the 5 years...and source a Model 20 with one of the dealers...

Congratulations on your new Randall. There's a lot of pride of ownership with a Randall Made.
FYI--Dealers can get knives, even with custom features a lot faster than individuals can. I've just ordered a Fireman's Special with a Border Patrol grip through Clinton Knives Should take 10 months.
Clinton Knives charges the Randall catalog price for the knives as in No Markup, plus $15 shipping.
          Enjoy your new Randall

Do you actually use the knife or is it a show and tell piece?

Not sure who you are asking, but first thing i did was sharpen mine on my tormek to lose the collectable value to force myself to use it. Thats why they got popular in the first place right? Hard use knives? I use the larger one as a camp and fishing knife.

I plan on using it on a limited basis, yes. I use my Model 8.
