    Good Strops?

Got a new Kershaw Blur in S30V and a Sharpmaker on the way.

From what I hear S30V can be a pain to sharpen but most people have been able to circumvent that using Sharpmakers and a little practice.

I also want to get a decent strop to really sharpen her up.

I hear good things about Stropman's and Knivesplus strop blocks.
Anyone have experience with the above mentioned or any alternatives to consider?

I like the fact Knivesplus ships theirs already treated with jeweler's rouge and just needs to be reconditioned once in a blue moon.

One of my LE friends made me a strop block covered with full grain leather from the back side of a worn out duty belt. He swears by them, and his knives are always shaving sharp.

Appreciate all the suggestions Eleven. Not sure I'm a fan of the spray method

Definitely gona look into the Balsa/Basswood option.

I don't use it much but so far so good. He uses his a lot but I guess after 20 years on the job he has plenty of old duty belts to salvage leather from. I'm not sure how long they last with regular use, but you can probably make 4 - 6 blocks from one belt?

                      Appreciate the input.

Must be worth it if he keeps makin em.
No harm in trying both of your guys' options seeing as they aren't exactly super expensive.
