I'm just a beginner to knife sharpening. Got a Spyderco as a gift. It has been hit or miss using it. I wasn't getting great results especially with really dull knives. Instead of investing in the diamond rods, I bought a Ken Onion Work Sharp. Much easier and great results. I would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a good sharpening system, very quick and short learning curve.

Here the kit I have but I paid a whole lot less, got a great deal direct from manufacture when they first came out. I paid 289.00 for the same kit a few years back.
I use it to sharpen all kitchen knives and all my personal knives and they knives get very very sharp I was a bit lazy one day cutting something with my Chef's knife and about took the end of my finger off. Only thing that prevent my finger from coming off was the knife hitting the bone. Right through the fingernail and everything freaked my wife out. Dam finger has never been the same.

I would love a Wicked Edge. That is my next purchase, but not for a long time. I will have to save up for long time. The Work Sharp was on sale for $129.00.

I use the EZE-LAP folding diamond files for my Spyderco Delica 4. No angle keeper or guide bars, but if you know how to use a whetstone or oilstone, it works like a champ. The only thing I dont like is they pair grits coarse/fine and med/superfine except the superfine and ceramic model.
