That's not the ca version I'm assuming? That means they won't ship to ca correct?

They will ship to a CA FFL but receiving FFL will have to do SSE for you. That is not cheap. You are going to have to suck it up and just pay for one locally. There is currently no such thing as a cheap Shield.

If his/your intent is for him to buy it and sell it to you, that is illegal.
