Faith Armory didn't hike up their price as much as everybody else did. But, they seem to have Glocks in stock. Cost less brand new, than trying to buy a used one from these VULTURES!

Started my wife on a hi=point 9mm just as a cheap intro peace that can handle some abuse and is easy to operate. She has since stepped up to an xd9 to mimic my xdm 40. She tried the glocks and never really fell for them. Nor did I; IMO an XD would be a better choice. But it really depends on her...a pistol as a gift is a great idea but hard ot get it right without them having input; ergo making it a surprise without having a history to base it on is risky. Good luck.

OP, what is she going to do with the gun? Any chance of it being used for carry or home defense? Do you think it will see much range time, or is it going to be lucky to have 100 rounds through it five years from now?

If it's a pistol to own that seldom comes out of the safe, get her whatever she thinks is pretty, and ceracote it whatever color or colors she wants. A pink gun is going to grab the eye and seems like a terrible color choice for a gun that might ever need to "not be noticed." Both of those guns have larger grips, I've own or have owned G17s, 19s, a 26, and have spent time shooting XDs. She may love them, she may not. I'd take her to the range and see if she is drawn to something. Even if it's not painted pink by the 26th, she'll feel like she was part of the present if you shop together. Best wishes, big congrats on 10 years and let us know what you do!
        Citizen.

She picked a Berreta PX-4 .40 cal and handles it like a champ!

I recently got my girl a pistol caliber carbine....a Hi Point 995TS 9mm carbine. The thing runs like a champ and is easy to shoot:

-- longer barrel, more accurate than a handgun
-- almost NO recoil, easy to shoot and get back on target...the barrel barely moves! Check it out on some YouTube vids.

-- more fun to shoot, as you hold it with shoulder/cheek/two hands, instead of squeezing a pistol at arms length. A cheap red dot sight and you shoot with both eyes open and shoot fast.

-- $400, cheap investment if she doesn't use it or doesn't like shooting
-- Many people paint 'em...since you want the colored thing.

Here's a blue and white one painted:

            -- Another one is a Kel-Tec Sub2000, but it runs >$1000 in today's market.

Me and the little woman went to the range and I had her try a few different pistols. Out of the 7 she tried, it came down to the Sig 2022, M&P, and the XD. The Glock grip was to boxy for her.

She ended up choosing the XD9.

want new 9mm for wife-need input

Ladies and Gentlemen, let me open your eyes...

If you want to give your wife a classy gift, give her something she will cherish the rest of her life:

She will remember this over any Glock or XD. .45 ACP will give an inexperienced shooter a push instead of a snappy recoil.

Do yourself a favor and make it a matching pair:

A pink or purple gun may be cute but it doesn't exude the class of bright stainless and pearl grips. I don't care what Patton says, pearl grips are nicer than ivory. These will be family heirlooms to pass on to the next generation. A Glock or XD will not nor ever will be. As you might guess, I don't think much of polymer guns compared to steel craftsmanship. Just my opinion though, you do what you think is best.
By what glory does that coinage serve you, sitting idle and cold? By what blessing has the tax-man bestowed upon you, refund or rebate, granting you the vehicle to your firearm dreams, a golden ticket to your nitrocellulose fantasies? Aye..... thus go I, bumping to the top. For you. It's all for you.
