    WTB: Reloading Press

I am looking for a good deal on a reloading press (single stage or turret) that will handle .338 Lapua rounds. RCBS, Redding, Lyman or comperable quality.

    Thanks,
    Bob

The new Lee 'Classic Cast' press is a very good value at only around 75.00 from the popular on-line vendors.

It's big enough to load .50BMG/DTC with their 1.25"dia dies, but also comes with the adapter bushing to make use of std. 7/8"dia die sets as well.

'O' type press similar to the RCBS RockChucker, but taller.

A favorite feature is that it drops decapped primers through the ram and into a wastebucket via attached plastic tubing.

I've loaded .338LM on mine without any issues.

Thanks. I had been considering one of the Lee presses but have seen a lot of mixed reviews. I was having trouble sorting out how much of the criticism was legitemite, and how much was snobbery.

Since you're reloading .338, let me pick your brain a bit:
      1. Will using competition dies make a noticable difference in the quality of the rounds I produce?
      2. What recipies have you had success with (I will be loading 250 and 300 grain Sierra bullets)?

      Thanks.

Get a Dillon. Only problem is you can't get a good setup on a small budget. Expensive parts and conversion kits. Some one here wrote they're in about $3500 for all their components, parts, etc. I'm in about $1200 for small rifle and pistol parts with my 550. Great Quality, though. Check it out.

          Lee Classic Turret

If you are new to reloading, get a Lee. They are great presses for the money, and very easy to use. I reload a bunch of rifle calibers on mine and all are very accurate.

If you choose to get another fancier press (e.g. a dillon) late, you will still keep the lee and use it as a setup for a second caliber. Changing toolheads on a dillon is a bit of a pain, while on the Lee it is a 20 second operation.

Load safe and use a good loading manual.
