A youth sized stock for the 10/22 might be the answer. An answer, anyway.

thanks for the though and the link... but im looking for a true starter piece.. one squeeze one shot

I feel single shots/lever action are the best for starters and some people are just to scared to shoot a semi auto

          Thanks

My first gun was an Ithica single shot lever action. The last one I saw for sale was about $79 slightly used. It's a perfect starter rifle. The exposed hammer makes it very easy to see if the gun is ready to be fired or not and the fact that it's a single shot makes the new shooter concentrate on that shot instead of thinking that he/she can just use a follow up shot.

Yes, as long as your FFL will accept guns from non FFLs (perfectly legal but some have a policy against it), the seller can take it to the post office, UPS hub or Fed Ex hub and send it straight to your FFL. The post office is probably the cheapest way to go. Sometimes, postal workers need to be educated that the USPS policy is that handguns must be shipped from an FFL but long guns can be shipped by ANYONE.

I have had problems with late single shots.Especially for teaching kids-The triggers are horrible/lawyers mandated,I guess. The Henrys have been good for teaching and so have the bolt actions, like was already suggested.I have a couple of the cheapest lightweight Savages/with the Accu triggers now just for teaching.Got them at Turners on sale for way under $200 a couple years ago.Seems like they were $139 plus tax and dros.Probably more now. They are very accurate, reliable and I like shooting them myself.

I am in Elk Grove and I just posted my savage up for sale. It's a bolt action. very accurate!

It was my first rifle. Had it for less than a year and when I went to basic training, I did pretty well with the m16 and I know it's because I practiced the fundamentals with this .22lr. Trigger squeeze, breathing, etc.
