    WTB - 5.56 MUZZLE BRAKE

Looking for an awesome deal on a kick but muzzle brake for real cheap.

(hey, figure it couldnt hurt to ask

My featureless AR build I just did, I just dont feel comfortable with the so called muzzle brake on it. it is one of those yanke muzzle brake / flash hiders.

It is advertised as both. and from what I understand, a muzzle brake has a hole just a little bigger than the round, where as a flash hider has a huge hole at the end.

Well mine has a huge hole at the end. so even though I have paper work that SAYS it is a muzzle brake, it also sayss it is a flash hider and thinking I am better off removing it and putting a muzzle brake on it that there is no question what it is.

BTW, anyone know how I can tell what my thread is? I have seen once advertised as 1/2 " - 28 seems like that is the most popular one for the 5.56

    Anyone have one laying around?

A birdcage is the standard Flash Hider, Not a muzzle brake

I think the best muzzle brake for the money is the BushMaster AK74

It really works good and they are cheap I think $35
If your looking to spend more than the FSC556 is great

Yeah I just looked at the picture of one. Bird cage is definatly not what I need

This is what I currently have on my rifle

And on Midwayusa they are listed as a Muzzle brake / flash hider

So while Midway classifies it as a "muzzle brake" it does not meet the definition of a muzzle brake.

Another question I have (and I can take pictures of needed) but my AR is an M&P 15. the flash suppresor that is on it came with the rifle.

It has like a metal washer and it looks like you should be able to put a wrench on it and twist it off.

Does anyone know if that barrel is thread and thats all I need to do? or is there more to it than that?

And anyone know off hand the thread size? on midway I keep seeing for .223 1/2" - 28 which I am guessing is half inch size with a 28 pitch.

anyone know how I can find out what my rifle has (if it even has threads?)
or should I call the manufactures (which on the rifle sasys Smith and Wesson.

Here is a picture of my rifle and the supressor that is currently on it
