WTB 50 DTC rifle or upper.

I would like to purchase or trade for a 50 DTC upper or rifle. I was thinking Serbu, Bohica, or a ALS would be nice. Im in the Sacramento area and would prefer a local deal. Please let me know if you are interested. Thank you.

What do you intend on using it for? Just asking because, there are many different 50s out there and some are better suited for certain things than others. BTW, the first thing you need to know about 50s is that NOTHING 50 related is always available. So, always plan to wait for anything and be pleasently surprised when you can get it fast.

I have a couple friends that compete, but honestly im not that good of a long distance shooter. I just want a good safe plinker with reasonable accuracy. Sure I have dreams of 1300 yard shots but unless its the size of a UPS truck im not holding my breath. I was thinking Serbu, ALS, or Bohica. As for the waiting no problem that's why I posted this add a little ahead of time. I have the cash now and am patiently waiting. CSA you always have great posts on the 50 cal subject and I make sure to read all of them. Any information you have for me I will gladly listen to.

First of all, you don't have to be "good" to compete. I shot my first FCSA match with only 9 rounds of 50BMG under my belt and having never even seen a 1000 yard range before. Well, I used to shoot smallbore silloutte at Coalinga but, I never paid attention to the 1000 yard range. Anyway, my goal was to put MOST of my shots on the 72"x72" target and that's about all I did. However, by shooting a few matches, I got a lot better and, if conditions are decent, I now shoot somewhere around 11"-13" aggs with my better groups being 5 1/2" to 8". I still have a lot to learn and need more $ for more trigger time but, I'm having fun and that's what it's all about.

As far as getting a DTC gun, if you want true sub moa precission, I strongly recommend ordering an ALS upper. I really feel it's the best bang for the buck. A friend of mine has shot several .4moa (under 5") groups with his ALS in DTC but, he's a better shooter than me. Just be prepared to wait a year or so for it. With this economy, you might get lucky and find that many of those in line are not ready to complete their orders though.

I would not hesitate to get a newer Bohica in BMG or DTC but, I would not expect it to shoot better than about 1 moa. The same goes for Serbu. I'm waiting to hear a little feedback on the Noreen. I know of at least one DTC that has made it to Ca. Oh, don't forget Ferret. They have preformed well at many matches. I'm not sure if State Arms is chambering in DTC right now or not but, a lot of people like their State Arms rifles. I know that Bluegrass Armory will chamber Vipers in DTC and Vipers have posted some respectible groups and scores over the years. Of course, if you end up finding $6-$10K in your sock drawer, you could always get a custom gun built on a Mac Bros or BAT action.

BTW, when I talk about waiting times for 50 related stuff, I'm talking in months and/or years. Not just a month or two.

I met the guys over at E.D.M. Arms at the Reno Gun show and just fell in love with there Windrunner. It to was in the unobtainable category at 6000.00. They offered lay away but it was just a little to high for me. I e-mailed the guys at Noreen but I never received a e-mail back about chambering in 50 DTC. Do they chamber in 50 DTC? Do you have any feed back on them? There prices are more than fair and I was very interested in them. Thanks again!

I just got off the phone with the guys at Noreen 50 DTC is a go and I think this is were I will be ordering my rifle from. Ive read nothing but good reviews on them but any other information would be appreciated.

Oppps. I forgot to mention EDM as a good choice for a DTC. I've spoken with the guys at Noreen at a couple of gun shows in Reno and at SHOT but, I've never seen one perform or even fired one myself. So, I don't have enough info to base an opinion on. I also suggest joining the FCSA BEFORE you start buying anything 50 related. Many manufacturers and vendors give FCSA discounts and our members only forum is a wealth of info. Just be careful, I heard one of the mods there is a real "Richard".

One thing I just noticed today is that Giraurd is now offering a DTC bushing. So, get a Giraurd trimmer as soon as you can. You will want both the BMG and DTC bushings since, you still need the BMG bushing to make your initial fireforming rounds.
