Just wanted to chime in with my recent experience.
I recently built my first AR and i love it. i got a CMMG upper w/ Troy quad rail for 550$ shipped, a CMMG lower + parts kit for 225. for the stock i chose magpul UBR, and magpul BUIS - another $300.
$1025 at this point - then i bought a second hand eotech, troy vertical foregrip, some rail covers and PMAGs landing me at around 1500.
1500$ is alot of money to me but my investment was well worth it - and picking every detail that went on it was the best part!
