but it would have to be if someone in CA bought it.....well kinda. if it was gifted by a family member or they are an LEO then it'd be exempt, but PPT out of state requires both parties to have a CA ID. I'm looking for one too, but it's on the back burner right now. Hopefully the "list" will fall next year and we wont have to worry about that anymore.

                        Not sure what you mean.

You cant ppt it from somebody outside of the state but you can ppt it from somebody that legally owns one and is a resident of california. E.g. LEO or PPT transferee..

i had an actual phone conversation with the DOJ, and the selling party has to have a CA ID. If they don't, it's not PPT. PPT only applies to residents of the state so someone who has a CA ID is considered to have at least partial residency. Trust me, i thought it didn't matter but I've found out different recently. I've looked much further into it than that link, trust me...if it's not already in the state or the out of stater doesn't have dual residency with CA, you wont be able to PPT it. Unless it made it onto the roster recently and i didn't know about it. If it's on the roster then it's G2G!

                              IrishPirate - Agreed.

All I am saying is that it is not "that" hard to find a California resident that legally possesses an off roster gun that is willing to sell it.

They pop up once in a while on the WTS forum and I occasionally get lucky here on the WTB forum.

Only thing is you have to check in on a regular basis because they usually sell within hours of being posted.
