WTB Taurus Total Titanium model 617 in .357

I'm on the hunt for a Taurus Total Titanium model 617 wheel gun in .357 cal.
This piece is no longer manufactured by Taurus. It is California approved.
I've only seen it in a Shadow Gray finish which is my preference but would consider another finish if there is such a thing.
Anyone have any experience with this revolver?
    Thanks,
    gpsjon

Have you ever shot a light weight 357 with full power loads? I hope your a recoil junkie.

haven't found a 617, but there's a ported 2.5" 415 total titanium at San Jose Gun Exchange for $399.00. Looks like new - I have one, a ported 41 Mag kicks less than the 357. It still shocks the heck out of your hand, but there's not much kick.

I held a used one at a local gun shop about 2 years ago. I considered buying it but didn't. I haven't seen another since. They are not the best looking guns which is probably the reason I didn't buy it. Very nice weight for carrying though!

        What is your intended use?

I ask because there might be other guns that come close to meeting your needs. Something like an XD40 Tactical (5" barrel), it's on the roster and a it's serious gun that weighs a lot less than an all steel revolver.

            Smitty,
It will be a carry gun when i want to carry. The 5: barell wouldn't work. I have a 605 Taurus which i love but would like 7 rounds. I had to put a longer grip on it to fit my big hand. I kinda like the looks! :-)

I've owned one for several years. It's accurate enough for me out to ~15 yd (I rarely shoot handguns beyond that distance): ~2-3" 7-rd groups offhand. I also used to own its 4" titanium brother - the model number escapes me now - but I traded it to a friend, a move I've regretted ever since.

I've never understood those who claim it has some sort of significant recoil. I've never had that problem, nor have any of my buddies who've shot it. IMO, the rubber grips and porting are more than adequate to deal with recoil in the smaller frame. (Appreciate, too, that this Taurus is significantly larger than the J-framed S&W scandium-framed .357s, which I've also shot and just plain hurt. ) FWIW, I used to fire 200-300 rd of 180 gr .357 mag (back when it was considerably less expensive) out of it in a single range session without so much as a sore hand, then or the following day.

It's an excellent carry gun when hiking: I usually load the first three chambers with snake shot, the latter four with Federal Hydra-Shok HP. Nice and lightweight, I never notice it when carrying.

Although I have several other .357 revolvers, it's still one of my favorites. And I'd buy the 4" version back from my friend if only he'd be willing to sell it.

                IHTH.

FWIW, although Taurus no longer manufactures the 617, it appears to still be available from dealers:

It sure looks like the one I'm looking for! The 617 Titanim? 7 round .357 Mag.
Do you have one for sale?

If you hit a wall and absolutely can't find this one, let me know (PM me). I have a 617T in Shadow Gray, but I really don't want to part with it. I might be convinced for the right price however. It took me a year to find mine, and I have a lot of resources.
