You get a lot for your money with a Ruger American Rifle and Ruger makes them in a wide choice of calibers. A good all round caliber is 30-06. For hogs, you could step down to a .270. Both rounds have historically enjoyed good ammo selections with non lead ammo which you will need for hogs in California. Getting any ammo is a bit of a challenge right now, but at least with hunting rounds, a box should be good for a couple of trips out assuming you can do your part.Benefactor Life Member, National Rifle Association

I've got a .303 Brit sport job for $225. Doesn't like boat tail ammo, it has a cut down 2 groove barrel with a brake and a Parker Hale hooded ramp front. PAXYou need a crew
