    WTB Walther

Hi Calguns, I'm trying to buy my first firearm in CA and can't believe how absolutely insane our 2nd Amendment rights have been violated. As you can appreciate, it is very difficult to find my dream gun. I am trying every avenue that I have been finding and what has been suggested to me. Although I am very anxious to find a Walther, I'm not willing to pay some of the gouging prices I've seen. The postings that are reasonable are snatched up as soon as they hit the forum.

With that, I'm hoping someone will see this and have pity on a newbee and help me out with a reasonable price on such an iconic pistol. I am very interested in a PPQ 4"barrel, P99, or any other model for home defense, fun at the range and possible concealed carry. I would like a 9mm, .45 or .40 cal.

I am wide open to suggestions and any advice someone can provide.

    Thank you.

I was in your shoes 2 months ago. You have a lot to learn about this industry. Luckily you have forums, google, youtube to help.

I too picked up my 1st firearm and it was a New 2014 PPQ M2 4" in April on Calguns. I was bent over the barrel and paid 2x the retail value. Part of doing business in CA. Anything off CA roster you will be paying a premium. Sellers of these type of arms have all the leverage because its worth "whatever someone is willing to pay for it". Majority of peeps here are standup people. I would advise you to keep looking but don't force a sale. I love my PPQ. Dont hesitate to reach out if you need any info from me. Cheers.

Thank you everyone. I’ve found this forum to be extremely helpful and there are some friendly and knowledgeable people such as yourselves willing to assist a newbie like me.

I will keep on my quest and probably end up having to pay more than I anticipated. Hey, it’s a free market and you can’t blame people for asking what they want, especially when the market supports it.

              Thank you again!

                Pretty good deal...

Thank you Oldmandan. I really appreciate your help! I saw that post as well. I have a friend who might be able to help me with a P99. Let’s see if it goes through. Otherwise, I will touch base with this seller. I don’t want to start a conversation until I am 100% committed to go through with the purchase. People are too busy to deal with non-committers and I don’t want to be one of those people.

Thanks again. Y’all have been very kind.

I'm in your same exact shoes. Looking to buy a gun and I'm really interested in the PPQ 9mm. It's kind of disappointing when I look online for the same exact gun and it's 550 in online and anything you can find here is 1k minimum. Is 1k a reasonable price here?

I agree! It’s frustrating seeing these selling outside the State for less than $600 but since these are “off-roster” they are going for double here. Very frustrating, but that’s what we are faced with. Supply and demand and what the market will pay. It’s just crazy! I did see a PPQ M2 offered for $700 a couple of weeks ago, it was sold within a minute of the posting. Most of the ones being offered are around $1,000 so I’m assuming that’s a fair price in this market.

I’ve received a lot of good advice on this forum, there are some good people here and they sympathize with our concerns. I have also talked to some dealers and they say the same thing. Everyone says keep your eyes and ears open and maybe even wait a few months. Some of the high prices are driven by low inventories and all the crazy things going on in the world.

                        Good luck!

Supply and demand, especially w/ off-rosters in CA

Finding the right deal at reasonable prices, you have to be swift in the marketplace.

                          Good luck
