Anybody got a remington 700sps tactical for sale? Or know where the best price to get one is? Thanks

I was looking at the 700 VTR, then the 700 SPS Tactical. I went with the black 700 SPS Varmint thinking I could have the barrel cut and crowned to a matching length of the Tactical since I wasn't finding any of the SPS Tacticals out there. The 700 SPS I got received pretty good reviews including one on SniperCentral: http://www.snipercentral.com/remspsv.htm. For reference, here is their review on the 700 Tactical: http://www.snipercentral.com/spstactical.htm.

Oh yeah... Huntington's in Oroville has an assortment of SPS 700's. At least when I bought mine they did. I bought 3 Remington's from them at the same time... all black, and all tactical except the SPS 700.

No problem. I know they had two of them left in .308 Win around Mid December. They are definitely a little higher (I paid mid 5 for mine, although I am getting a rebate,) but the plus is they generally have stuff when it isn't available elsewhere, and most often have a few of whatever you are after to choose from. Not to mention, if you make the trip from out of town, it's never a waste as you can cruise the museum and hit the clearance tables.

I was in there tonight and there were a few, including a 20" 700 SPS, but it was in .223. I didn't think to check for the Tactical barrel stamp. They did have a couple .308s, including the VTR models (I love that triangular vented barrel, but was staying with the all black theme for my Remington tactical line and the VTR is OD.) As mentioned, they are a little higher with the VTRs in the 8 bill range and the others in the 6 bill range.

As for the hunting, we used to live on a ranch that included private upland range, safflower for dove, and wetlands. Now I live by the lake, and what hunting I had has all changed hands. Can't be of much assistance in that area

Yeah skydiver I'm tryin to see if I can get the carmint in pasadena to ship, oroville, you have the varmint, how has it been shootin? I don't mind the OD green, but I would rather have black, and I just like the shorter barel of the tactical, but it looks like I'm gonna have to order it and wait for it to come in, and I'm not very good with patience so ill probably end up gettin the 700 varmint in .308

The OD one is a SWEET looking rifle. Check it here: http://www.snipercentral.com/vtr.htm

They actually have it at another shop here in Oroville for a bit (lot) less than Huntingtons (Berry Creek Guns... 100 yard from Huntingtons.) You can give Hedi a call there if you need more info. She's a great lady and runs a super business there.

The VTR she ahd was about $200 more than I paid for my SPS though, and I don't really plan to shoot it a whole lot. As mentioned, I have a line of Remingtons in black now, so it was easy to talk my self down to the SPS. They didn't have the shorter barreled one when I was buying mine though or I might have got that.

I always end up paying more for stuff I can get my hands on. I call it my "impatience tax". Oh well, I'd rather spend the money of important stuff and pass it along instead of leaving it sit so the kids can spend it on college some day

As for the performance so far, I can't speak for that yet as while I did put some rounds through it, my intention was to just fire form the brass to reload for it, I must say though, that heavy barrel is sweet. Especially after shooting a 7615 and Mini-14s all evening before pulling that out.

Wasn't able to pick-up the varmint.... wife gave me a surprise X-Mas gift... the latest c-card bills. Looks like she's personally trying to jumpstart the economy herself! All my fenalgling and selling amounted to trying to pay off the bills. No new toys for me. But at least I'm not selling any of my safe queens! To top that off, I threw away $11 to go crappy gun show last weekend.
