WTB: Sized boolits for my Mosin-Nagant

I don't have reloading equipment, and need to swap out the steel core surplus bullets in my surplus ammo for lead bullets - I live in the Los Angeles area and the range I like best is in a fire hazard zone... wouldn't want a red hot steel core ricocheting off into the undergrowth.

I'd like Lyman #314299 200gr round nose Linotype (or similar, not less than 165gr), sized to .314 and lubed. Anyone care to PM me a quote for 100 - 200? Just so y'all know - I also replace the powder with 12gr of Alliant; velocity is 1,300fps so I've never used gas checks.

Accuracy is great, but at 100 yards I have to raise the sights to 450 meters, at 200 yards I set for 650 meters. Recoil is like a .22 and nowadays it's about the same price per round !

Thanks, you two. I haven't connected with Bullshop yet, but Penn bullets looks promising. Biggest issue is a clapped-out carbine - slugged at .314 (Yikes!)

I'll prolly go with a light boolit & load for that one and gently tap the boolits on the nose with a small hammer to fatten it up a smidge (and measure of course - I like my right eye, a lot!) before seating. It's a Russky gun, it'd probably eat rocks.

Have you tried Powder Coated bullets? I can make you 160 gn hard lead Powder Coated bullets from a Lee Mold, I can size them anywhere from .312 down to .309
Thought that maybe I could trade for your steel core and a little cash.
I have ran Powder Coated hard lead in a 30-06 bolt action up to Jacketed bullet powder weights with safe results.

In my experience with Powder Coating, as a jacket to lead it is very forgiving simply because protection from leading but isn't as hard as copper. With rifle, I would personally NEVER go under .001 using powder coated bullets and a medium to fast powder......in some applications, I would even use .002 over bore size but with a slower powder....remember, the whole point is to seal the bore as much as possible without overpressure. I have heard of lead deforming from high pressures but have never experienced that myself as I always follow the advice I gave you

In rifle, say a .308 you may be ok with using a .308 casted PC bullet but definitely, definitely want to keep the pressures as low as possible. In theory hot gases can get between the bore and the bullet. The lack of a good seal would result in leading. Would that happen with PC bullets, probably not but like I said I always go over at least .001 with anything I cast and shoot, needless to say I have alot of die resizers to do that....

In general there is a less of a concern with pistols, especially short barreled pistols and plicking loads short distances.
