Possible scam tactics, beware!

Twice in a row it has happened. When I replied expressing interest to WTS on reloading forum, a PM from a "friendly" member arrived within minutes. Here is the latest one I got

"Hey man, pm the seller via cell for faster response.

(928) 288-5582

It was giving to me by him the last time I pm him about his CFE Pistol, CFE 223, Various Primers For sale

Just giving you a helping hands man

The first time I got this, I really think someone was trying to help me out, so I texted the number. The number did look odd as it wasn't local, although the seller was local. The replied text claimed he was too busy to meet, so he is willing to deliver if I pay with zelle or vemo. It didn't feel right so I backed out.

Just now I replied to another WTS. The exactly same thing happened again. The PM has the exact format with different text number. Both PMs were from users registered a few minutes before.

It definitely looks like some scam tactics. Someone is trying to mimic the seller to "intercept" your money and put the blame on the real seller. Beware!

Actually it has happened 3 times. The 1st time I ignored the message as the seller responded shortly. 2nd time I texted and backed out. This is the 3rd time.

I'm afraid so. The correct thing to do is talking to the seller directly via PM or forum posts, ignore everything else.

Good advice.

Also, use the report message button in the top right corner (red & white, looks like a streetsign) to let mods know what's going on and they'll ban that account.

That tactic’s been around for awhile now. Check when they joined, # of posts, itrader, etc and your gut will tell you. Now, those scammer accounts will not accept a reply pm so you will not be able to reply to their pm.

Be wary honest calgunners!

Yep…. It is always directed to another friend ‘s email or text number …. LOL! And who in America writes like that….LOL! Only Nigerian princes ….
