What these wheels do is allow you to both have a run flat capability and also to run low tire pressures without worrying about the tire coming off the rim. This is great if you ever go off road on sandy type earth to enable better traction. Further, the fact that it's rare and usually only on government security type vehicles is another draw for some people. I got it to put on my Suburban, but I totaled it and now have no immediate need for it.
The story is that apparently GM had these made by Hutchinson to be used on civilian vehicles, but that never materialized. In the back, there's a GM part number actually. In reality, these mostly went to secret service and U.S. private security companies overseas with no domestic availability.Comment

Actually these are real nice on rock crawlers and sand type rigs. Worth every penny for a lower 4wd rig too.Comment
