    Hi folks,

Looking to trade or sell my 2004 VW Beetle - Clean title. Interested in trading for CA compliant long guns and 9mm pistols.

I'm calling it a Mechanic's Special - with a little bit of work it'll be a nice little driver again. Located in Modesto.

With only 99k miles, this car still has plenty of life in it - just needs TLC. It does start when jumped - needs a battery.

I'm going to attempt to be as transparant as I possibly can about what this vehicle needs:

I am the second owner of this VW. I bought it in 2007 - it had 38,000 miles when I got it. I am looking to part with this VW because I have purchased other vehicles.

It has some cosmetic damage: it was hit while parked outside of my house - so there is some damage to the driver's side door. It has the usual chips from daily use. See pictures.

The reason the car is having troubles is because I purchased other vehicles and it has been sitting for 9 months. Here's a summary of what the car needs:

    1. Battery. The battery is dead, but can be jumped.
    2. Tires. Tires have good tread, but are cracked from sitting too long.
    3. Coolant Temperature Sensor - I have purchased this part and will include it for free.
    4. Needs an alignment.
    5. Probably needs an alternator.
    6. Probably needs a serpentine belt.
    7. Brakes need to be look at. New/bled lines / master cyclinder - I don't know.
    8. The driver side mirror was knocked off when it was hit while parked. It's currently taped on. The window rolls down about half way - locks work fine. It's just cosmetic, but you'd only need to replace the door shell if you wanted. Door shuts securely.
    9. The registration has been paid - but it still needs to be smogged to get the tags. The car is throwing a 0420 code - which is because of the coolant temperature sensor. I will include the code reader for free - the car will pass smog when you manually remove the code with the code reader.

The car will need to be towed, or trailered to wherever you need it to go.

If you know how to fix cars, or have a friend that can help you out - you can do most or all of the work yourself. It's not terribly complicated - I just don't have time or desire to do it.

    The good:

    Has all new struts.
Has 4 new brake pads and rotors.
    Only 99,100 miles on it
    It looks pretty clean
The interior is pretty nice as well.
    Clean title in hand.

Looking primarily for weapon trades. I'll pay the DROS/PPT transfer fees of course. Will consider cash offer, but prefer trades.

I'll make you a fair deal but, I'm not going to just give it away. This little project has a lot of potential!

Please PM me with questions or offers - I'll respond to you promptly!

    Thanks for reading.
