The gun is a Colt Lightning .38.
Gun was appraised at Outdoor sportsman in Stockton, CA last week. The gun was manufactured in 1899 and is valued on the high end at $6500.00 and the low end at $1700.00 (Blue Book of Gun values by S.P. Fjestad). In the 50% condition range it is $3500.00.
I am posting this for a family friend who doesn't do the forums thing. If interested I will give you his phone number to work out a deal
