Hello all.
Up for sale is a great range gun that's guaranteed to bring as big a smile on your face as it did mine. This specimen is an increasingly rare Beretta CX4 Carbine, chambered in 9mm. Beretta intended this gun to be a lightweight, easy-to-handle and easy-to-use-and-clean pistol caliber carbine that uses the same magazines as the now ubiquitous M9 pistol, as well as the current generation PX4 Storm pistol. At this end, I think Beretta did very well.
I bought this piece a few years back, as a range toy and as a companion to a 9mm PX4 I kept as a bedside piece. I had to jump quite a few hoops getting the thing into California; it needed those "extra" parts for compliance, as well as a dealer understanding enough to do the transaction.
The round count, I estimate, is about 750. The first couple of trips to the range, the gun didn't do as well. The trigger felt mushy and heavy, and that affected accuracy and reliability. So I sent the rifle to a gunsmith friend of mine, and he replaced many of the fire control components, upgraded the recoil rod assembly, and polished the internals for smoothness. When I got the gun back, it felt like a completely different animal! The metal trigger felt solid, pulled easily and lightly, and the action was very smooth. Good trigger, smooth action, and no more jams; I was a happy shooter. And did I mention this thing was FUN? Even the missus (who is very petite, mind you) was able to handle this thing with authority, making a 1 1/2 inch hole from 25 yards. A red dot on top (I chose a Burris XTS135 -- med rings, cowitness lower 1/3), and her favorite saying becomes "Honey! Another magazine, please!"
Missus-approved as it already was, I still added some more accessories for function and ease-of-handling. A forward side/bottom rail system was added, as well as a forward grip. Next comes the ambidextrous handles for left/right charging, and some stock spacers for varying lengths of pull. Oh, and those new parts my friend installed? They included an upgraded adjustable-for-pretravel solid aluminum trigger, a hardened and polished stainless steel hammer, and a replacement trigger spring, all made by Sierra Papa. For long-term reliability, he also installed an upgraded stainless steel recoil rod assembly, a bronze rod link, and a heavy duty resin buffer. For compliance, a Prince50 BulletButton was installed. From the gun store, the rifle comes with a hard case, accessories for cleaning, manuals and papers. To ensure compatibility with both Beretta 92 mags and PX4 mags, I added extra magazine wells and releases. The carbine is currently configured to work with 92-series magazines, and will come with TWO Beretta factory stainless 10-round mags.
Fun as the carbine is, I have to sell it because I just have too many toys, and this thing just doesn't get as much range time as it used to.
So here's the dealio: This will have to be a face-to-face transaction only; shipping is just too messy and cost-prohibitive. My preferred transaction places are Turners West Covina and Alamo Pawn Shop, also in West Covina. This will be a strictly cash only transaction. Please PM for any questions.
Thanks for looking!
