Other info: Inherited this very rare gun recently. Only 102,000 of these made approximately, between 1918 and 1920. The barrel markings indicate manufactured 11 - 19. Appears to all original and never re-worked at an armory. Its in amazing condition. No rust or pitting at all. Gun seems to be coated in cosmoline or other preservative inside and out. Been in my grandfathers house for decades. Bore looks good. Wood dang near perfect other then a couple very tiny digs from the gun safe. Note, there is almost no wear on the bolt. I want this gun to go to a collector who will appreciate it. Its of no use to me sitting in my safe till I die. I would never fire this piece of history.
I have no idea what it looks like under the wood. I will not take it apart for fear of messing up the screws that are currently perfect. If you show me the money you can take it apart and look before purchase.
I can take more pictures for serious buyers. You will not be disappointed. Check gunbroker you will see guns in this condition are listed for 3,000 to 3,8000. This gun is in better condition then anything listed on gunbroker right now. I did not even whipe the dust off before photos.
Might consider trades + cash for rifles chambered in .243 that are lightweight, less than 7lbs such as tikka, sako, kimber. Semi auto shotguns weighings less than 7lbs possibly o/u's. Quality bolt action rimfire guns such as cz, sako, kimber, or annie prefer 22mag or hmr will consider .22lr or 17hm2.
or trade for scopes... Leupold vx3 2.5-8, weaver rv7 rimfire, weaver classic 2-7.

This gun is obviously C&R
