    Hello, FC,

With apologies for the 'nit-pick', yours is the 'standard' model 64.

The 'deluxe' version was advertised as the 'model 64 deer' and was fitted with !X or better wood, (meaning walnut with a nice grain pattern, as compared to the straight-grain wood which was 'standard'), with the grip and forearm areas chequered. The deluxe 64 was also fitted with the quick-detachable sling swivels, the same as used on the 'super grade' model 70 rifles, and a leather sling, similar to the M1907 sling, but 1" width.

That said, yours is a very nice appearing rifle. Do you know for a certainty that is the original finish, or could it be a very high quality refinish?.........if a refinish, it appears to have been well done.

Could you post the first four digits of the serial number? The reason I ask is that if your rifle is in the low 1, 300, xxx's range or lower, it would be pre-war, and significantly more desirable thereby.

And to the rest of you who read this advert.........this is indeed an uncommon opportunity to get a very desirable Winchester.....if I didn't already have one, I'd 'snap it up' myself.

    cheers

    Carla
