A milled receiver in AKs is much less common than the stamped, folded and riveted sheet metal receivers, which the latter was easier to make, and less expensive because there is less time involved with machine work to carve out a receiver from a block of steel. A folding stock (which **I THINK** is not an allowed part and may/would be welded into a fixed position) is not common as the ones I've seen here on the Forum that are fitted with plastic or genuine hardwood stocks on them; lastly, here in Cali a rifle must be "featureless" which means a semi-auto rifle must have a fin on the pistol grip (to prevent easier handling) if a detachable box magazine is employed on the rifle; in the reverse, if one wants a unhindered pistol grip, then the box magazine must be locked into place to make it a hindrance and slower to reload to rifle. I think I've got this right. I only own sporterized semi autos, meaning the rifle has a traditional hunting stock; since there is no pistol grip, the rifle can use a detachable box magazine.Comment
