Hello, yuppie,

Since the 69A was not serial-numbered, its probable year of production can only be estimated by comparing specific part detail changes with known examples.

Your Winchester 69A shows some details which would tend to identify it as mid to late 1950's production, in that it has the swept-back, chrome-plated bolt handle, chrome-plated trigger, and the dovetail cuts in the top of the receiver for scope mounting.

The folks at 'Rimfire Central' are running a study of probable years of manufacture of the 69A rifles, based on subtle changes in certain of the components, such as the chrome-plated trigger guard of the latest ones. If you'd care to put in some good photos, they should be able to tell you with reasonable certainty whether that particular rifle meets the '50 years old' standard for private sale

(I'd be reasonably certain that it does, as Winchester stopped building that model in 1962 or thereabouts, and may have built/sold relatively few in the last couple of years of production)
