Greetings all,
I recently picked up this rifle package with the intention of using it as a dual purpose Precision/Hunting type setup. I got it for a good price so I jumped on it while the opportunity was there. I never did get around to putting it all together and taking it out to shoot it. All items are brand new and still in the box. The rifle has only been out of the box to cycle the action a couple of times and take pictures. The folks over on Sniper Central speak fairly highly about Howa 1500 barreled actions and have been using them for some time as a base for building "entry level" custom precision/tactical rifle packages. http://www.snipercentral.com/scrifle...ml?packageid=1. These barreled actions have an extremely nice fit and finish and are surprisingly smooth for a rifle at this price point. In addition, the Howa 1500's are supposed to be one of the most accurate ~$600 bolt action rifles right out of the box. For these reasons they are considered to be somewhat of a "hidden gem" and great value for the money. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this rifle. It feels really solid in the hands which is somewhat surprising for a rifle with a synthetic stock. It also feels surprisingly light for a rifle with a heavy barrel. I had big plans for this rifle and had already started researching/pricing out my upgrades when I made the mistake of handling an M1A Scout Squad. I've wanted an M14/M1A for a while now and I've always liked the idea of the Scout Squad configuration but the price has always scared me away. Unfortunately, now that I've had a chance to "fondle" one a couple of times I can't seem to get it out of my head. The more I think about it the more I think I would actually get more use out of an M1A than I would a bolt action rifle. For this reason I have decided to sell this rifle package and put the money towards an M1A. I paid almost $700 ($600 + tax and DROS) for this rifle package back in December and it has sat in my safe ever since. I would like to get $600 for the package and I'm definitely firm on that price. I'm not interested in breaking up the package either. As always, feel free to hit me up if you have any questions.
Cheers,
Ryan
