    Sold

$700 $600!!! Our third and last baby was born last night so in his honor I'm marking this down $100 for a quick sale. First I'll take it... takes it
I'm also open to trades. Pistols in 9mm or 45 and 20ga S/A shotguns.

This is a numbers matching French Side-by-Side in 20 gauge. This is the quintessential lightweight, upland bird gun.
100% original. Most likely 1900 - 1928 based on proof marks.

    Made in St. Etienne France
20ga Side by Side, double trigger, Boxlock w/straight (English) style stock.
It's very light at just over 5lb, and locks up tight.
It has wear. This is not a museum piece this is a piece of history that wants to go hunting.
I have not refurbished it. Just wiped it down and oiled it.
Keep it as is or restore it, I leave it to you.
Also comes with leather case. See pics, the case is NOT in good condition but it is yet another piece of history.
*** Also included are with 100 Rounds of Vintgar shells from Polywad! These are especially made for these vintage guns. Lower recoil but exceptional shot patterns ***

Markings that I can make out:

R B 5709 (Gun Maker and serial number. Marked on barrel, front grip, trigger and stock)
Crown with branches (St. Etenne chamber of commerce markings)
    16.0 (Choke in mm)
    Choke Rectifle A Couillard ???
    65 (2.5" shells)
    J * B (Barrel maker Jean Breuil)
Acier comprime superieur (Superior Compressed Steel)
SpApour pouore pyroxylee (Proofed for smokeless powder)
Crown with PT under it. (Proofed for smokeless powder circa 1924)
    Fabrication Soignee (quality workmanship)
Au Point Garante (Barrels Guaranteed to hit the same spot)

    Specs...
    Barrel: 27"
    Overall Length: 43"
    DAC: 1.75"
    DAH: 2.5"
    LOP: 13.5"

Im intrested but I would like to know how you arrived at this price.
Has the gun been appraised by a profesional. If so would you also provide that information.

              Regards,
              Etchman

Price based on professional evaluation by well known arms master at prominent West Coast auction house. Suggested auction price was $1,200k with a private sale between $600 and $1,000 to the right buyer.
I also spent several weeks searching the internet for comparable guns sold at either auction or private sale. I have seen them sell from clunkers at $200 to pristine examples at $2,500. Key factors that played into the pricing: Clear and plentiful markings on the gun. For a piece that is 80 to 90 years old, the markings are very clear and legible. Location of construction, quality of build, level of detail and one of the two biggest factors is that the barrels are by Jean Breuil, easily considered to be the top barrel maker of the day. The second is that this piece is about as old as you can get AND still have the ability to shoot modern ammo. Any older and you have been forced to do custom reloads.
