Are you sure it is not a post WW-II version? According to the "Blue Book", the ones before WWII did not have checkered stocks. Not a big deal, just curious. Let me know on the C &R issue as it is over 50 yrs. old, it should qualify. Thanks.

e-mail sent. Savage dadabase says 1937-38. Checkering was applied to these guns prior to WW11, but started out plain.

The "G" variants had the checkered, pistol grip stocks and take-down barrels...they are not as common as the plain 99's from that era. Very good price for a Model 99G that hasn't been modified AND is in .300 Savage, as opposed to .303 Savage, so you can actually buy commercial ammo.
