    SOLD

    Make: LWRC International

    Model: M6A2-S

    Caliber: 5.56

Location (city or county): Los Angeles

    Price: SOLD

Will ship (Y/N): Sorry, but no shipping.

Other info: This is an LWRCI M6A2-S or "stretch". The M6A2-S has the forend of the M6A2 but the longer, mid-length gas system of the M6A3. The finish is LWRC's MRE or "Multi-Regional Earth" hard anodized finish. The finish is not Duracoat, Cerakote, or other baked paint. The finish is actual hard anodizing and has no preceivable thickness.

I realize the price is high, but note the expensive mods like KAC Triple Tap muzzle brake, KAC rear sight, LWRC front sight, Geissele trigger, KAC ambi selector, Magpul UBR buttstock, and granular tungsten buffer. I thought I would list the complete rifle first and if it doesn't sell, then I would part out the expensive pieces and sell the rifle with standard pieces installed.

Overviews of the rifle for sale:

This rifle has a distinctive finish. It's called the MRE finish, which stands for Multi-Regional Earth. It's a hard-anodized finish. The finish is not painted on like Durakote, Cerakote, or whateverkote. This finish is hard-anodized and has no perceivable thickness, just like the standard black hard anodizing on most ARs.

You can see that the colors on the upper receiver, lower receiver, and forend don't match exactly. This is because anodizing colors is difficult to match from batch to batch.
On this rifle, the forend looks more green, the upper receiver looks more tan, and the lower receiver looks more brown.

LWRC discontinued this finish because buyers complained about the mismatch colors and also because of high cost. I actually liked the mismatched colors and thought it made the guns look cooler. I even took the color mismatching a little further and fitted green furniture that was mismatched:

The buttstock is Magpul OD green and the pistol grip is Tango Down sage (?) green.

This is a colorful rifle. Look at the barrel and you will see that it looks slighly blue. All of the steel pieces on this rifle are finished in LWRC's NiCorr finish, which is a nitride finish the same as Glock's Tenifer finish and performs the same. For whatever reason, the NiCorr on this rifle looks bluish.

Model is the M6A2-S and chambering is 5.56:

The S stands for "stretch" and designates the mid-length gas system. The LWRC M6A2 had a carbine-length gas system and the M6A3 had a mid-length gas system. I used to be an LWRC dealer asked LWRC to combine those two into one rifle and surprisingly they said yes. The M6A2-S was the result.

The markings on the upper are lasered, but the markings on the lower are cut into the receiver. The HK-style pictogram markings are paint-filled in white and red, but you can remove the paintfill if you like with paint stripper. It's easy to do if you want.

I forgot who makes the magazine lock, but note the encircled FC marking on it. I added this magazine lock after California banned the bullet button.

Trigger is a Geissele two-stage. This trigger has a glass-rod break and is easily the crispest of all of my Geissele triggers.

Rear sight and selector are both by Knight's Armament Company (KAC). More photos below.

      Charging handle is standard USGI.

Pistol grip is a green Tango Down.

Trigger guard is an aluminum Magpul.

Magazine is a 10-shot black PMAG.

The M6A2-S is a piston AR. Here are pics of the bolt group:

If my memory serves, the bolt carrier and cam pin are both plated in nickel boron for lubricity.

The tail end of the carrier is enlarged in diameter to prevent the carrier tilt seen in standard ARs that were converted to piston operation.

The front of the forend has two knurled and slotted screws. Unthread the two thumbscrews and the top of the forend can be removed:

Side view of the front of the rifle:

Barrel is 16" long, so you can change muzzle devices easily. Shown is the KAC Triple Tap, but that has been parted out and replaced with a standard A2 flash suppressor.

The rifle is fitted with reserve iron sights.

Front sight is an LWRC-labeled Troy battlesight:

Troy made a bunch of different patterns of front sight. This one is the one with protective ears in a semi-circular pattern:

The front sight post is standard A2 and adjusts for elevation in the same manner.

            Rear sight is by KAC:

This KAC sight adjusts from 200 to 600 meters by turning the elevation drum. The sight is identical in concept to tang sights on western guns or the rear sight on an FG42.

The KAC is very narrow in width and does not have protective wings that bash your fingers when you operate the charging handle:

The rear sight adjusts for windage by turning the knob on the starboard side:

View down the length of the rifle when the reserve sights are up:

Selector is an ambi by KAC:

The leg on the starboard side is relieved and made thinner so as not to interfere with the firer's hand or finger when the safety is swept to FIRE:

Please note that while the full-auto pictogram is there (open-ended box with infinity symbol within), this is a semi-automatic only rifle. The rifle will not fire full auto. The selector will not even go into the full-auto position. The trigger is a semi-auto Geissele:

                Buffer and recoil spring:

The buffer is the same weight as an H2 buffer, but is filled with tungsten granules rather than the usual block weights. The tungsten granules act like a deadblow hammer and prevent bolt bounce just like standard buffer, but the weapon doesn't feel like something inside of it is broken when you shake the weapon forward and backward. It doesn't sound like a big deal, but get used to this buffer and standard ARs will feel broken inside when you pick them up.

The recoil spring is a chrome-silicon flat wire spring by David Tubb. You can tell by the black color that it's chrome-silicon. Chrome-silicon springs basically never wear out. Tubb claims this spring will last more than a million cycles.

Buttstock is a Magpul UBR in OD green color:

The UBR is adjustable for reach in different ways. When first extending the UBR, it will go only to your desired length and no farther:

This way, you have a choice between fully compressed or your ideal length.

The UBR has side buttons that you can depress if you want to go longer than your desired length:

The UBR also has hatch covers to make a storage compartment out of the toe area of the buttstock:

One of the covers is solid and the other is hinged with a spring-loaded latch.

Here is the solid cover laying on the storage area to give you an idea of what a "closed" UBR looks like:

The UBR has the same butt shape as that of the CTR and many other Magpul stocks, so you can change out the butt pad to something longer or wilder.

                  I also have the box:

I have too many guns and am trying to tidy things up.

If you want to see the rifle in person, just let me know. Everything on the rifle is very smooth. The bolt cycles very smoothly and the trigger action is top notch.
