$SPF$ to veteran. I'm selling a 1957 4-digit serial number 6" python for $1200. (Or $1050 for any active military personal or ex-military that saw combat.) You will very very rarely see these. The 4 digit is always good for a look of shock. Strongly prefer PPT at jackson arms in south SF.
I was going to fix this up as a project gun, but given my funding situation that seems less realistic so am listing it.
The good: rare. Fundamentally solid: no rust, pits, or marring that I see. Appears all original other than grips. Internals have been strip cleaned, inspected, and moly-lubed --- they are in great shape. Timing and lockup are excellent. The action is very very very good. If you want to feel what a python action should be, this is your gun.
The bad. Cosmetics: very bad reblue and some jackass scratched his initials on the frame under the grip. Functionality: The max/min barrel cylinder gaps are out of factory spec. If you send this to colt I believe they will reblue and restamp for $300 and fix the barrel/cylinder problem for $85. You will then have an absolutely beautiful python.
These aren't the best pictures; I can post others (including internals) if there is interest.
You don't see such a serial number everyday:

Ratchet / barrel edges look good:

Surface smooth:
